Sainthood is not about being perfect in life, but about remaining faithful to God and valuing the Beatitudes in our lives.
Brothers and sisters in Christ, today we join the Universal Church to celebrate the Solemnity of All Saints. Those who have journeyed
before us in faith and now share in God’s glory. As we honour them, we can discover our own call to holiness and ask ourselves
what it truly means to live a saintly life in today’s world. Sainthood is not about being perfect in life, but about remaining faithful to
God and valuing the Beatitudes in our lives.
In our first reading today from the book of Revelation, we see a great multitude from every nation, race, people, and language
standing before the throne of God, clothed in white robes and praising him. These are the people who have endured trials and
remained faithful and put their hope in the Lord. Their lives remind us that sainthood is not about having a perfect life, but it’s all
about remaining faithful to God even when life becomes difficult.
Nevertheless, this reminds us that the saints were not free from struggles and weaknesses. They had their own addictions and
sufferings as well; they allowed God’s grace to lead them to eternal life. These are the people who have lived the beatitudes as
mentioned in the Gospel.
As children of God, we are reminded of the incredible love God has for us, as John mentioned in our second reading. This is our
identity, and God wants us to live our lives as His very own. To strive every day of our lives, to remain faithful, and to allow God’s
grace to lead our lives. The Beatitudes have to be the focus of our journey. These are the values of the Kingdom of God, and we
must strive to learn from the saints who have observed and lived these beatitudes during their earthly journey.
Brothers and sisters in Christ, the Feast of All Saints reminds us of a few things that can help us to be living saints of our times. The
saints were like us; they had addictions, weaknesses, and even some of them had a very bad past, yet they opened themselves to
the grace of God to transform them into new beings. When the chance comes their way, they make use of it. They opened to a new
chapter of their lives. Let us imitate them by living our lives as children of God. Let the Beatitudes be our compass in our journey, so
that we can be counted among these people we are honouring today.
